Applications are now open
Melbourne University Basketball Club (MUBC) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Head Coach of our inaugural Big V Youth League Women’s team for the 2027 season.
MUBC is looking forward to establishing a Youth League Women’s program that provides a pathway for talented young female basketballers to develop their skills, compete at a high level and continue their basketball journey within a supportive club environment.
About MUBC
MUBC is one of Victoria’s largest senior basketball clubs, with a strong connection to The University of Melbourne and a growing presence in Victorian basketball.
Our youth programs are built around athlete development, strong relationships and positive team environments. We believe coaches play a critical role in creating an environment where athletes can perform at their best while continuing to develop both on and off the court.
The establishment of a Youth League Women’s team represents an exciting opportunity to build a program from the ground up and shape its culture, identity and pathway for future athletes.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate candidate to lead the program as Head Coach in 2027.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the team’s basketball program, while creating an athlete-centred environment that prioritises individual development, strong relationships and team culture.
We are looking for a coach who:
• Has experience coaching or playing at a representative level.
• Is committed to an athlete-centred approach to coaching and development.
• Values building strong and genuine relationships with athletes.
• Can create a positive, inclusive and high-performance team environment.
• Is committed to the development of young female athletes both on and off the court.
• Has strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Is excited by the opportunity to establish and develop a new program.
• Can work within the broader senior women’s basketball program at MUBC.
Requirements
Applicants must:
• Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing the role.
• Hold an appropriate Basketball Australia coaching qualification, or be willing to obtain the required qualification prior to the commencement of the 2027 season.
• Be available to fulfil the coaching commitments associated with the Big V Youth League Women’s program.
• Meet all relevant MUBC, Melbourne University Sport and Basketball Victoria requirements.
Why MUBC?
MUBC offers coaches the opportunity to be part of a well-established senior basketball club with a strong university connection and a clear focus on player and coach development.
As an adult-based club, the successful coach will be able to focus on the Youth League program without an expectation to coach a separate junior team.
We are also committed to investing in the ongoing education and development of our coaches, providing opportunities to build their coaching experience, knowledge and professional network.
This is an opportunity to join MUBC at the beginning of an exciting new chapter and play a significant role in establishing our Youth League Women’s program for years to come.
