We’re thrilled to announce that Josiah Smith has joined the Melbourne University Basketball Club as Head Coach of our Division One Women’s program for the 2026 and 2027 Big V seasons!

Coach Smith brings a wealth of elite experience across Australia’s top competitions. He currently serves as an Assistant and Technical Coach with the Bendigo Spirit in the WNBL, also contributing to their WNBL Championship last season. 

Josiah’s résumé also includes successful stints in the NBL1 and Big V competitions. Most recently, Coach Smith held the role of Associate Head Coach with the Ballarat Miners NBL1 Women. Having previously coached extensively in the Big V competition, with experience in the Senior Women’s, Senior Men’s, and Youth Men’s divisions, Josiah brings a winning mentality to the MUBC program.
