MUBC is proud to announce the appointment of Julia Walsh as the club’s new Coaching & Development Lead, a newly created role designed to strengthen coaching support, alignment, and development across all levels of the club.
This role reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to building a positive, inclusive, and growth-focused basketball environment for players and coaches alike. The Coaching & Development Lead will work with coaches across all MUBC programs, including Big V, development team, and domestic coaches.
Julia brings an exceptional breadth of experience to the role, spanning elite, representative, and community basketball, including:
- National Coach, Australian Men’s Basketball Team for Athletes with an Intellectual Disability (Gold and Silver medallist at the VIRTUS Games)
- Basketball Victoria Coach of the Year (2020)
- Basketball Victoria Female Coach of the Year (2014)
- Head Coach, Victorian Women’s State Teams
- Former Coaching Coordinator with Melbourne Tigers, Bulleen Boomers, and Sandringham Sabres
- Assistant Coach, Women’s National League level
- Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching at La Trobe University and Deakin University
- Director, Melbourne Boomers (WNBL)
Through this role, Julia will focus on supporting coaches, providing mentorship, and fostering collaboration across the club’s coaching programs.
